Born and raised in Los Angeles, Patrick first caught the theater bug in high school, and subsequently earned an undergraduate degree in theater design. His design career first flourished in the shops and on the stages of renowned West Coast repertory theaters, where he worked as a carpenter and set designer.

Upon moving to New York, Patrick assisted on Broadway productions before establishing a 25-year career art directing, and then production designing daytime television dramas. He production designed 3,750 one-hour episodes in 15 years, and won five Emmy awards. During this time, Patrick developed a love for episodic television design, and honed an approach to visual storytelling that prioritizes defining character and mood through selecting just the right details.

Patrick carries this approach into his current production designing for episodic television, and enjoys capturing in images the particular lives of superheroes, gangsters, detectives, therapists, and any other characters who demand that their stories be told.
